She has been a communications practitioner for over 20 years, working with organizations in a wide range of industries including security and defense, law enforcement and military, nonprofit, arts and entertainment, and technology. Prior to founding Emblem Communications in 2006, Sandy worked for some of the world’s largest global public relations firms, including Burson Marsteller and Ruder-Finn. She also served as vice president of the Orange County PR agency, K-COMM Inc., for five years, leading the security and high technology practice. Sandy is the President Emeritus of InfraGard San Diego, a FBI-affiliated nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting U.S. critical infrastructure.

Mayor Steve Vaus is in his second term as mayor of Poway. Prior to his first mayoral election in 2014, he served on the Poway City Council for two years. In December of 2018 he was unanimously elected as the Chair of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) and served two years. Steve is a four-time Grammy Award nominee and 2010 Grammy-winning recording artist. He has also won multiple Emmy Awards. Additionally Mayor Vaus owns a Poway production company which has served clients such as the San Diego Padres, Cox Communications, Barona Resort, the U.S. Navy and others.

Daniel D. Beintema, President, USS Midway Foundation has enjoyed a career of service, from life as a Naval Aviator, to the City of Chula Vista, to the San Diego Foundation and finally to the USS Midway Museum and its foundation. His career has spanned 40 years and a multitude of amazing experiences. Dan will be retiring to his family farm in Iowa this summer and looks forward to more time with his two daughters, their spouses and his two grandchildren.

He began his career with Sunroad Enterprises before forming Gafcon Inc. with his wife, Pam, after the two met in their native South Africa. He is partnering with Protea Waterfront Properties on a $1.2 billion project to redevelop the 70-acre Central Embarcadero site that currently includes Seaport Village.
