GRACE W. PERKINS K-8 SCHOOL

Our Foundation, with your support, has adopted Perkins K-8 school located in the Barrio Logan district. The needs are great, as this school has a homeless population of 37%. The poverty level has increased greatly during the pandemic.

We have purchased and delivered new furniture to three of four special education classrooms to enhance learning. The furniture replaces dilapidated desks and chairs and is designed for the special needs of students. We provide numerous offsite education opportunities for many of the children with our partners at Qualcomm, USS Midway Foundation, the San Diego Padres, NASSCO, and Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel.

We also support and fund officer-student relationships. Nine volunteer Harbor Police officers engage with students and stay with those students year after year until they graduate. Students form life-altering bonds with officers through many of our programs, including Shop with a Cop, Fish with a Cop, and on-campus visits.

 The generosity of people like you has provided the funding in support of this extremely rewarding adoption of Perkins K-8.

Teachers RUL

Teachers RUL (respect unity love) is a tutoring program initiated in May of 2021 to assist Perkins K-8 students in bringing their reading comprehension rates back up to standardized levels.
